Johnny Comes Lately: Office 14 offers Web based version

When the next version of Office (codenamed Office 14) comes out sometime in 2009, Microsoft will make available the browser-based editing capabilities.   As Microsoft unveiled at PDC 2008.

The online version comprises Word, Excel, and PowerPoint that can be sync’ed with their offline counterparts. Consumers will get the services via Microsoft’s Office Live Web site and business customers get  the online version through Microsoft’s SharePoint Server product.

The online version is promised to keep format fidelity comparable to the offline version, where the competitive products still can not achieve – An excuse for being late!  [Via Beyond B1nary]
