I keep reminder (even to myself..) to check out the Windows Media Center, comes bundled with Vista Ultimate and Vista Home Premium. MSNBC just added the News Beta program.image

Bring up Windows Media Center, under the TV + Movies section, select MSNBC News Beta. You will be presented with below options:

  • View the latest 2008 U.S. election videos
  • Watch Editor Picks and Most Popular videos, as selected by viewers
  • Get five-day weather forecasts for any ZIP code in the U.S.
  • Create your own news video playlists
  • Browse by category, such as Business, Sports, and Entertainment
  • Search for stories using keywords
  • See related videos for each story

For Politic fans, check the Politics section, there’s a category for “Decision ‘08” where videos pertaining to the current U.S. Presidential elections will be displayed.  As you browse through the videos, you may notice a plus sign “+” appears when you click on a video. Using this plus sign, you can create your own custom news video playlist which you can play back any time you want. There’s nothing to download to start using this new feature so you can simply begin using it the next time you run Media Center.

How do I remove MSNBC from my media center? I dislike the left wing rag and it is cluttering up my media center

I would also like to remove MSNBC.

I like the interface. It looks very slick.

The problem is that, to make it appear that they have more news content than they do, they have chopped-up the news into little pieces that you have to find/click to run next. So you watch :30 of a story, then you need to go back and find the rest. It doesn’t free-flow through news stories. I hate it for that — why such a retarded system? If they’re going to ask me to pay for it later, in order to get it all in one piece, I’ll laugh and say “no”. CNN and Fox let the shows and parts of shows free-flow.

I can’t watch the TV shows, because I’m in South Korea. I suppose I was able to download it because I’m using English Windows 7.
