How much computing power you Need in the palm of your hands? HTC Glide proposes 800 MHz
As I often mentioned, life is full of compromises so is your handheld device. Beautiful VGA display, 3G, faster processor consume more power, shorten the battery life…But it also true if the software does not know how to optimize the power management consumption or the interface requires extensively computing power to overcome the response time lag could also be a factor.
Today Asus announces its flagship (yeah, just like you, we are tired to change Asus Flagship almost every week now) the P565 sporting the fastest processor for this class of device, a whopping 800 MHz of computing power in the palm of your hand.
The 2.8” VGA (480 by 640 pixels) touchscreen device has about the size of the H1920 iPaq,
Glide seems to offer a different UI variant of the TouchFLO 3D. Asus claims it is a revolutionary touch-responsive user interface that enables users to perform a variety of navigational actions—such as selecting, zooming, scrolling and flipping—easily through simple flicks of their fingers. Incorporated into Glide are also applications that enable users to access a wide range of functions such as looking up the latest news, checking the weather forecast, viewing photo slideshows and listening to music within a few finger taps. These applications, dubbed Multi-Home, Anytime Launcher, EziPhoto, and EziMusic, give the expression "the world at your fingertips" a whole new meaning.
I still hear the latest devices such the Touch HD, Touch Pro, Touch Diamond still exhibit response time issue. If Microsoft does not fix the software, obviously hardware vendor just throw more hardware resource to address the issue. The question here is how battery life will be impacted for such solution?
