Windows Media Player 12
When Microsoft releases its WM7, as usual a new version of Windows Media Player will be bundled with the package. The WMP 12. As I advocated using Zune player to ditch out the WMP11, I still don’t understand why Microsoft is wasting development effort for a new app.
ArsTechnica posts a quick hands-on showing WMP 12’s different look and UI and few new features.
The new Media Player will offer two different player modes: a Library View and a Now Playing View.
- The Library View is where you can can manage your media contents such music, video, and pictures, playlists, ..
- The Now Playing View shows the playlist, visualizations, and videos. A taskbar called miniviewer allowing to play your media while not obstructing your view on other works
The new version features the extended codec support. For once Microsoft embraces other standard such H.264 video, AAC audio, Xvid and DivX video, as well as all the traditional media formats. [Via & Photo ArsTechnica]
