2010 Toyata Prius

The iconic Toyota Prius is going on sale later this year as 2010 model. This time around, it will face with tougher competition (Honda Insight, Ford Focus, etc..) in the department of eco-friendly vehicles but I am sure it still maintain its original eco-friendly among faithful followers.

imageThe new 5-seater Prius sports a more aggressive profile but still keeps the lines of the current model. It will still be running on a 1.8 ltr hybrid engine, the mileage is rated at 50 mpg (mile per gallon) in average.

Unlike the previous rumor, The optional solar panel roof is just for regulating the temperature inside the car you park, it does not participate in the powertrain at all, (this avoid you to blow up the AC at max when re-entering and effectively killing any efficiencies gained using a hybrid powertrain).

The air conditioning on the car can be operated via remote control, allowing the driver to adjust the interior temperature for comfort before getting in the car. To further reduce the carbon-footprint, your rear side will be cushioned by the sweet touch of ecological plastics. That means the foam (and other plastic components throughout the vehicle) are plant-derived and carbon neutral, emitting less carbon-dioxide throughout the product lifecycle than plastics made solely from petroleum. The car also has no "new car scent"; rather, fresh grass clippings are taped to the air vents at the dealership.
