Android Cupcake Screencast

Cupcake, the codenamed of the new development build of the Google Android OS, which will include a number of improvements shown in the below video, but the most obvious addition is the  virtual keyboard.

Granted, the G1 has a hardware sliding keyboard, but it only works in landscape mode and requires a mechanic sliding action even for the smallest text entry task.

Adding a virtual soft keyboard also opens up to more hardware design as we’ve seen in the rumored thinner device. But  Android will face a steep challenge that Apple has set the bar so high in term of  flawless predictive text entry.
