Macworld 2009 Highlights
The first Macworld keynote delivered by Phil Schiller just got wrapped up with the below highlights: Apple’s first hardware announcement is the 17" unibody MacBook Pro. Apple touted the Macbook Pro as the "world’s thinnest 17" notebook," at under 1 inch thick and all the goodies including Firewire ports and 8 hr-lithium polymer battery are there. The laptop costs around $2800.
The Apple software suite (iWork, iLife) got revamped as well as the creation new collaborative Beta site called iWork.com. The site is acting as the cloud component of the iWork suite.
The other non MAC related announcement is iTunes goes DRM-free for around 8 million tunes, 3G iPhone users will be able to purchase songs on the go and the tunes will be sync’ed back to the desktop once connected. The flat price of $0.99 per track model is gone for the new tier pricing: $0.79 for older songs $0.99 for mid-tier and $1.29 for the most current.
