Scanbuy’s 2D barcode application to be pre-loaded on LG camera phones
Scanbuy today announced that its ScanLife 2D barcode application will be pre-loaded on camera phones from LG Electronics, the third largest handset manufacturer in the world.
The KF310 is already available with the application in Spain, and additional phones will be introduced in other markets over the coming months.
The ScanLife mobile application uses camera phones to read all major 2D barcode formats which immediately connect the user to mobile content and information. This removes the need for a user to type long URL’s or search for information using keywords. The ScanLife solution is geographically and internationally interoperable and can therefore be used anywhere. Today, it can be downloaded for free from the phone’s browser at www.getscanlife.com.
"We are thrilled to announce this agreement with LGE. Their support will substantially assist in bringing 2D barcode technology to mobile subscribers around the world," said Jonathan Bulkeley, Chief Executive Officer of Scanbuy. "Mobile data usage is increasing exponentially every day, and the ScanLife solution will make it easier than ever to discover and navigate to content from anywhere."
The ScanLife Code Management Platform (www.scanlife.com) is used by marketers and content providers to extend their content and messaging onto mobile devices from media including print advertising, packaging, and more. In addition, any individual can create free codes from the platform that link to their contact information or social networking websites.
LG’s Mobile Communications Company is the third largest phone manufacturer in the world, shipping just over 100 million handsets in 2008. Some of their popular models include the Renoir, Secret, and Viewty.
