Tip New Year Resolution #6: Be a Tree-Hugger

2 January, 2009 Posted by As Tips (2) Comment

Try to be greener for this year just by simple and easy step. Change your electric bulbs to more energy efficient.

Electric lighting burns up to 25% of the average home energy budget.
The electricity used over the lifetime of a single incandescent bulb costs 5 to 10 times the original purchase price of the bulb itself.

Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL) and Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs have revolutionized energy-efficient lighting.

Watch Natalie Portman, Kyra Segdwick, Chloe Sevigny explain on the video how simply changing a light bulb can help reverse the effects of green house gases. (after the jump!)

Yea, great idea, but some people will say there is a BUT.

The BUT is that if THIS BULB (CFL) breaks, yea, if THIS BULB (CFL) breaks, if THIS BULB (CFL) breaks, it will cost Thousands of dollars to have it cleaned up by a hazardous waste team.

BUT I would tell them to look at this:

Check this out: http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/cfl.asp

I almost got caught up on this too, but thanks to SNOPES I got the right information when I needed it.
