Acer DX900 Smartphone
Acer, the third largest PC maker has recently made a come back with its Acer Aspire One Netbook and takes advantage of this momentum to launch its first smartphone reportedly at MWC in Barcelona.
A retail store in UK just made available for pre-order the Acer DX900, which is simply a rebadge of the Glofiish DX900 from E-Ten that Acer acquired in March 2008.
“Smartphones will represent as much as 10 percent of Acer’s revenue in the next few years”, said Gianfranco Lanci, president of Acer, at the company’s first quarter investors’ conference in Taipei. That is a big commitment to the mobile space from the world’s third-largest PC vendor, owns several brands now, including Gateway of the U.S. and Packard Bell in Europe.
From a design standpoint, the device feels like a 2008 device, however Acer will be touting about its dual SIM card capability on this 3G capable device powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile.
