Hello Windows Phone, Goodbye Windows Mobile

image Microsoft has realized, by now that less is actually more. After a disastrous branding from PocketPC to PocketPC Smartphone, Windows Mobile Standard, Professional, Classic…Now  The OS will be called simple Windows Phone without specifying an OS version number according to DigiTimes in Taiwan

Digitimes source also confirms the timeline we shared before a beta version of Windows Mobile 7.0, (which will be called Windows Phone by then) released by the end of 2009 and will be in the hands of device makers in April 2010.   [Thanks Scott M.!]

Simple and to the point.Clearly states what it is a windows phone

I think this is a bad move. “Windows Mobile” expresses a more broad experience. “Windows Phone” doesn’t sound like an OS at all, but a generic piece of hardware that is specifically a phone.

Windows Mobile is much more than a simple phone OS.

I have 8925 tilt and believe me I know it’s a windows device.I don’t have to told it is,the word windows alone means I can expect to do more with my tilt than just make a phone call.Like I stated before simple and to the point less is more not all the confusion over.sandra
