Do you know, you don’t have to struggle with text entry on your small phone keypad to send SMS when you you have a computer handy?
Most wireless operators/carriers offer free email gateway allowing user to send email to cellphone as SMS text messages.
The site MakeUseOf provides a fairly well complete list of carriers with their associated email address to send.
Below are few examples from the major US carriers:
