Samsung OMNIAHD i8910 a Symbian Powered Phone
At MWC’09, Samsung officially launches the OMNIAHD i8910, which is Samsung’s first Symbian 5th Edition mobile OS powered full-touch handset, and features the world’s first 720P HD video recording and decoding on mobile, as well as the world’s largest AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) touch screen on mobile device.
While the original Omnia was using Windows Mobile, the new HD version is powered by Symbian S60 and promises the ultimate in digital entertainment thanks to its HD capability and 3.7" AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) (AMOLED), which can deliver sharpness, vivid colors and greater clarity in direct sunlight as well as less power consumption.
The OMNIAHD comes equipped with a 8MP camera. On the connectivity side, HSUPA 5.76Mbps and HSDPA 7.2Mbps will provide fast video streaming as well as speedy download. A GPS with integrated compass makes OMNIAHD suitable for both pedestrians and drivers, and the navigation touch control and voice guidance via dual stereo speaker provide drivers with easy and safe navigation. The device will come with either 8GB and 16GB capacity options and up to 32GB microSD card. [More on Press Release hands-on video].
Noteworthy: Along with the star of the show OMNIAHD, Samsung also unveiled 2 more phones: the Samsung Ultra Touch features a 8 MP camera with Dual Power LED, GPS with navigation, TouchWiz UI with Mobile Widget, Auto Rotation with a 3×4 inch keypad. The BEAT DJ sports 50MB of storage, although users can load up more media onto a microSD card. It comes with full touch Music Evolution/Spin Wheel Touch and DISC UI — an advanced music play UI.
