Apple also offers contract-free iPhones

Followed to AT&T decision to sell contract- free iPhone (still locked to AT&T network), Apple has also confirmed that it has similar offering  with $600/ $700 for the 8GB and 16GB models respectively. Furthermore, current iPhone users still under contract can get subsidized pricing of $200/$300 for the 2 models with a new 2-year commitment.

The motivation of such move could imply an effort to clear the current stock for new generation or just simply increase the sales that Apple needs to improve its financial. [Via Arstechnica]
