GrandCentral has become Google Voice

image GrandCentral was known for  “one phone number for all your phones, for life.” . A free service for US residents that gives user  a  permanent local phone number that all other numbers (office, mobile, etc..) can forward to.

Google grabbed GrandCentral in 2007 and basically has worked in the background to rebuild the service from ground up. Google today relaunches the service and renamed to Google Voice.

Existing users will be given the option to switch to the new service and get access to new features including a Skype like for international calls; Text messaging; Voicemail transcription; Conference call, etc.. You can read more at TechCrunch!

The main problem with this would be how to get all your friends and business contacts to start using your new number instead of your old one!

I think avakit solves this though!! It helped me a lot when I changed jobs…
