image By May of this year, for around $650 you will able to pick up the Samsung MBP200, a Pico projector that allows to project an image.  Using Texas Instruments’ DLP technology, the projector can project a native resolution of 480 x 320 pixels, 9 lumens and a minimum projection distance of eight inches to few feet if you are in a darker room.  The MBP-200 Pico Projector supports the following media and document formats: JPEG, GIF, MBP, MP3, WMA, OGG, AAC, WAV, DivX, Xvid, WMV9 Simple Profile, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, PDF, PowerPoint .ppt, MS Word .doc, and MS Excel .xls. The Pico Projector measures 4.2 inches long by 1.9 inches wide by 0.7 inch thick and weighs around 5.6 ounces.

But the most exciting part is the upcoming Samsung phone i7410, which will have the Pico projector built-in (photo above). The phone will be available shortly after the MBP200. The specs include:

  • Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900), UMTS 2100 connectivity
  • 3.2” 240×400  AMOLED touchscreen
  • 5 megapixel camera with LED flash
  • built-in projector, projected image size – 5-50”, at QVGA 480×320px resolution
  • FM Radio
  • 150 MB of internal memory
  • microSDHC memory card slot (up to 16GB)
  • USB 2.0., Bluetooth 2.1 A2DP
  • 1440 mAh battery
  • Dimensions: 111.7×56.7×17.2 mm

This capability is certainly a novelty, but knowing you can show off a picture, a video clip on a white binder to your colleagues, it is kinda fun.
