Facebook opens API to third party apps

image Until now, Facebook users have to visit Facebook Web site to participate to their social networking activities. But with the tidal wave of popularity gained by Twitter recently, Facebook, today announced it will provide an API of its activity stream so other Web site or third party app can tap into the stream without the need to visit Facebook site for activities such view, filter, interact, etc…The  Facebook Open Stream API will 100% comply with the new Activity Streams standard, which is an extension of the Atom feed format.
