Microsoft in Talk with Verizon about Project “Pink”

We mentioned previously that Microsoft has been working on a phone related project codenamed “Pink”, which could be a mix of Windows Mobile, Zune, Danger technologies. Today, according to a report from the WSJ, Microsoft is indeed, in talk with the wireless carrier Verizon for a possible launch.

For this project, Microsoft seems to approach in a similar way to the Zune, which means Microsoft designs both the software and the hardware. Unlike the Windows (Mobile) phones, where Microsoft just makes the OS available to manufacturers who design and build the hardware .

Project “Pink” will be no doubt, a multi-media centric phone, but just say it is a “iPhone killer” would be over exaggerated.
