2 months ago, we shared with you about Microsoft Kumo project, which is the new search engine that Microsoft will make available to replace its “lack of luster Live Search”. Apparently Kumo has become Bing and it will be unveiled at the D conference in Carlsbad, CA this week.

We would expect to see few more technologies that Microsoft invested in the past such semantic search engine Powerset, Travel Search engine Farecast, Health Search engine MedStory that they acquired for around $100M each..

“We believe we can provide a better and more useful search experience that helps you not just search but accomplish tasks. During the test, features will vary by country, but you’ll see results organized in a way that saves you more time. An explorer pane on the left side of results pages will give you access to tools that help you with your tasks. Other features like single session history and hover preview help accomplish more in search sessions…”…Says Satya Nadella, Microsoft Search Executive – extracted from the letter sent to MS employees during the testing phase.
