Kartoo, new visual meta, symantec search engine
Search has been dominated by Google, but it is time that Search engines need to deliver more than just a bunch of links. We have seen WoframAlpha with its computational search model; Microsoft Bing with more intelligent decision search and now KartOO with the promise of more Symantec approach to deliver better search result.
At the first glance, Kartoo is a visual meta search engine, "with visual display interfaces. When you do a search and click on OK, Kartoo launches the query to a set of search engines, gathers the results, compiles them and represents them in a series of interactive maps through a proprietary algorithm."
More simply put, Kartoo puts its results on an interactive, visual map for you to play with. Kartoo is a metacrawler / metasearch engine, which means that it does not come up with its own results, but aggregates the results of many other search engines.
Few preliminary tests prove great 1 page list result with 3 relevant web sites with its contents and thumbnails..you can scroll more at the bottom.
But the cool part is the Map view, where you can see various web sites connect through discussion, conversation and various topics..
