image Microsoft on Tuesday set the October 22 as delivery date for a new version of its Windows operating system. Since the desktop and higher end laptop sale are in decline, all eye are on the new netbook segment, which has been dominated by Microsoft Windows/XP and soon hopefully will be displaced by Windows 7 “starter edition”.

Of course, competition is also looming in this market segment including some variance of Linux, Google Android and Sun/Oracle in the latest announcement delivered by Oracle Chief Executive Larry Ellison.
