More OS choices on Acer Aspire One Netbook: Google Android
Acer plans to launch its popular 10” Aspire One netbook with Android OS. This launch is scheduled for 3Q 2009. Acer will mark the first mainstream notebook maker to carry Android OS on a netbook. "We are seeing that Android is becoming more common," said Jim Wong, president of global product operations at Acer. “Acer decided to move more quickly to work with Android because there is a strong development movement behind the software”, he added.
Since the Android OS license is free, the price reportedly will be slightly lower than the Windows/XP counterpart.
