Palm Pre… ready for lift off this Saturday

image Today, Palm has a launch party for journalists and few prominent bloggers to kick off the Palm Pre, the most anticipated device since its fall of grace. At the same time, usual suspects such WJS Walt Mossberg, NY Times David Pogue, Engadget Joshua Topolsky did get to play the Pre before anyone else, start publishing lengthy reviews now the embargo is lifted.

The Palm device seems to pass the critics with flying colors with exception of few understandable weaknesses for its first iteration. There were no surprises to any of us following the device for sometime, the Pre is trying to fill the holes that iPhone owners wish they could have (removable battery, multi-tasking, flash, real keyboard,…) and it seem to fulfill.

While it is inevitable for everybody to compare the Pre with the iPhone and it is indeed the most worthy competitor to date, the iPhone has about 20 million units ahead and its global reach versus the Pre with its US and CDMA only and the rumor of a new hardware is looming  from Apple. The future is bright for consumers.
