Recap Apple World Wide Developer Conference 2009

As expected, the largest conference organized by Apple took place this morning in San Francisco, CA. The conference has 5,200 developers attending countries. Phil Schiller, Apple marketing VP gave introduction and the recap at conclusion.

Below is a quick recap for you:

    • New updates on the MacBooks:

      • Macbook Pro 15” gets new battery with up to 7hrs runtime and can have1000 charges; The Expresscard has been dropped in favor of an SD card slot – Maximum config can go up to a 3.06GHz dual core CPU and up to 8GB of DDR3 memory 256 SSD; 500 GB HD – Model ranging from $1,700 to $2,300 depending on feature sets

      • MacBook Pro 17”: 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard-drive plus the 9400M and 9600M GT graphics $2,499

      • Macbook 13” gets built-in battery and new display; 500GB HD and surprise Firewire 800. Price is starting from $1200 to $1500. 

      • MacBook Air got a price reduction to $1,499 for the 1.86Ghz model SSD version: $1,799

    • OS X Snow Leopard is making its debut today with Exchange support added and better, faster performance while using fewer resource consumption. Better Safari 4, and Quicktime will be part of the new OS. Snow Leopard will be shipping in September for $29.

    • iPhone OS 3.0 will be released on June 17th for the US and August timeframe everywhere else.   The new OS will a free upgrade for all iPhone users and it costs $9.95 for iPod Touch owner. It comes with the following features:

      • MMS availability subjected to the local carrier

      • Seamless modem tethering for PC or Mac over USB or Bluetooth

      • Search across calendars, music, notes, email

      • New Find My Phone feature works with Apple MobileMe service to locate the lost iPhone as well as option to "remote wipe” data.

      • Turn-by-turn direction API is available for Navigation app such TomTom to use

    • New iPhone 3GS, a new iPhone hardware was also announced with very little if not any appearance changes. the “S” in 3GS stands for speed.. The new iPhone should perform roughly 2 times faster than its predecessor  image
      • Camera in the back of the unit will be no-flash auto-focus 3 MP, capable of recording video in VGA mode at 30frs. Low-light sensitivity is improved
      • Voice control for phone dialing functions as well as media playback control
      • Digital compass to work with all such Google maps
      • Integrated Nike support
      • Hardware encryption
      • The 16GB iPhone 3GS is $199 and $299 for the 32GB model
      • Phone 3GS available on June 19th in the US and global release will be in August
      • The current 8GB iPhone 3G will be sold for $99 starting today
