Use your existing Cell phone number as Google Voice number is coming!
If you are one of the lucky users who owned a phone number from GrandCentral or Google Voice, you’d appreciate how versatile and useful it is. Google Voice gives a phone number for life and you can use the Web interface to conditionally or unconditionally forward other phone’s incoming calls to your Google Voice number. Voice messages then can be transcribed forwarded as email, etc..
Giving a new local number for free to each new users similarly to Gmail ID represents a major challenge, and that’s why Google Voice is still in limited use.
To address the large scale distribution, Google Voice apparently is working on a plan to allow new users to bring their existing cell phone number as your Google Voice number, according to TechCrunch, using the number portability scheme. this would address the shortage of available phone number. Obviously there are many more challenges that Google needs to iron out before to can actually get on the service. But good new will come to our way!
