imageGoogle is releasing Google Latitude for iPhone and iPod touch as a web-based application running in Safari browser. Latitude allow to track your friends (if they also use Google latitude) on a map using location-based feature.

Privacy settings are available to control your location status. The Web app also provides  basic Search and Directions functionality to help you get around.

To try Google Latitude, enter http://google.com/latitude into your Safari browser. And if you miss the experience of launching the app directly from your home screen, you can add a bookmark to the home screen by opening Latitude in Safari and tapping the + icon > Add to Home Screen > Add.

The Google Latitude web app currently supports iPhone/iPod Touch OS 3.0 or above. For now, it’s available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, more countries are coming soon, according to Google.
