Microsoft Entertainment VP gives his insights…
Microsoft ‘s Entertainment and Devices unit president Robbie Bach has given few interviews for the last couple of days providing insights & future directions of his division.
He admits the lack of progress on Windows Mobile side, blaming on the poor cooperation between Microsoft and device manufacturers, which is something, I still don’t understand, without the creative add-on user interfaces made by HTC or by Samsumg, Windows Mobile would have been further behind?
R. Bach promises more resources have been added to the development team and greatness will gradually come with the next major release of Windows Mobile …. sometime in 2010.
Within the next few months, Microsoft will debut its Zune HD as the next big thing . Microsoft will will certainly leverage the synergy from one of its most successful devices, the XBox 360 game console as its weapon to differentiate with the popular Apple iPod Touch.
The synergy will be the media portability (movie, TV shows, music, game, etc.) across the 3 platforms (XBox, Zune, PC) for now and possibly with Windows phone at later date.

“Microsoft has long talked about a vision in which people can buy content like movies just once, and then watch them on a variety of devices. That vision will finally start to become a reality this fall” Robbie Bach
As we all know, the major hurdle will not be in technology, but rather be in the content owner approval process. We will see how well Microsoft would negotiate with studios, record labels,..
"All of the things about what you can buy and what you can buy where have less to do with technology and more to do with rights negotiations," Bach said. "We’ll steadily make progress on that. It’s generally in the best interest of content providers and it’s certainly in the best interest of consumers."

Well, it’s good hear that they’ve been preparing for this one and considering all the possibilities that could enhance the device especially in watching movie aspects but it would be better if they’ll be focusing in games as well, we actually want to see more MMO being played on a mobile and we’d love playing eve online or possibly Aion in the future.
