Apple and carrier restrict the use of 3G (cellphone network) for many apps by mandating as WiFi only. But if you are away from any WiFi hotspots, the new 3G Unrestrictor utility tricks the iPhone to  recognize GPRS/EDGE and 3G data connections as Wi-Fi connections.
