New Google Chrome Beta with 30% improvement
Google Beta/developer channel delivered yesterday a new beta of Google Chrome browser. The focus is on speed (Google claims the new release shows over 30% improvement on both the V8 and SunSpider, when compared to the current GA version). Additional improvements include the New Tab page, Omnibox, theme support and HTML 5 capabilities added.
Customize the new New Tab page
When you open the new tab, in the previous version, the thumbnails shows automatically your most frequent visited sites for convenience. The New Tab page gives more control over the format, whether you want to show, pin, delete or simple drag them around to your likings.
Try the latest and greatest Omnibox
The Google Chrome “awesome-ebar” or “Omnibox” got better optimization and new icons are added to help you distinguish between suggested sites, searches, bookmarks, and sites from your browsing history.
Tweak the chrome of Google Chrome
From the very first version of Chrome, some unofficial tweaks were available to change the theme of the browser, but changing theme has become officially part of Chrome. Visite the Themes Gallery for more.
Experience HTML5 capabilities
Last but not least, Google has started building HTML5 capabilities into this beta release, including video tag functionality and web workers without the need of installing extra plug-ins. To try out, subscribe to the Dev or Beta channel. Just run a little program (found here) and that’s it. After that, you’ll automatically get early access updates.
