HTC Leo Video Reveals Capacitive Touch-Screen and MultiTouch on Windows Mobile
The site ai.rs just posted a hands-on video of the latest powerhouse HTC Leo. Beside the larger than usual screen and the 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, few intriguing features shown such the capacitive touch-screen and the multi-touch interface. Both are not supported on the Windows Mobile 6.5 as standard API. We still don’t know what trick that HTC has up to its sleeves to make such features available prior to Windows Mobile 7.

I must be dense but I can’t figure out why this (capacitive multi-touch screen) is such a huge improvement. I didn’t see anything happening that I can’t already do with my finger on my Diamond – unless you count using 2 fingers to make something bigger or smaller as opposed to using 1. Granted, I have made an effort to make my Diamond finger friendly with 3rd party apps. as opposed to a stock machine but it seems to me that resistive screens allow you “touch” functionality for programs written accordingly and where minimum resolution is necessary and still allows you to have maximum resolution and precision using a stylus if the application necessitates it. Use of a “D” pad also helps immensely but it appears that HTC is abandoning that so maybe high density data on a small screen is going away since there will be no way to select it – your finger is just too big.
