New Free Starbucks Apps for iPhone & iPod Touch
We have seen Starbucks partnership with Apple iTunes, selling gift cards for songs, etc.. Today it unveil 2 apps for
the iPhone and iPod touch.
The first app, myStarbucks, is more a traditional business portal offering store location, business hours; menu; nutritional information based on the selections, etc…
But the second app is more revolutionary, unfortunately only available In 16 stores in Seattle and the Bay Area. The app lets users check their card balance and transfer more money to the account. — it also displays a scannable bar code on the cellphone screen, allowing it to be used to pay for purchases, like a Starbucks card, at those stores.
Starbucks will gauge customer feedback during the trial and then decide whether to extend the card functionality to other markets, according to Starbucks. Both apps are free and don’t contain ads, and there are no plans to charge for them, he added.
