image The latest iPhone uses the Broadcom BCM4329 wireless chip, which is known for support of 802.11n/5GHz network as well as send receive FM radio signals. Currently only the Nike+ is using the FM receiver of the iPhone.

Mac enthusiast site 9to5Mac just received from a tipster that Apple is developing an iPhone Radio App, which can run in the background similar to the iPod app. The radio app is an “enabler” to the iTunes store for your impulse purchase.

The latest iPod Nano also offers FM radio with live pause. It is our hope that similar feature will also find its way to the iPhone.

Note that the Zune HD comes with HD and FM radio. It is the right time that Apple unleash the hidden features that are available in the hardware.
