Finally, a Worthy Contender for the iPhone
It would take 3 giants to attempt to dethrone Apple supremacy. We can’t wait to see the outcome. In the next few weeks, Motorola, Verizon and Google will show their tour de force with the most capable Android device to date., the Motorola Sholes (or TAO). The flagship device will be featuring Android OS 2.0 codenamed Eclair. The Android 2.0 comes with much better user interface, tighter social app integration as well as enterprise features such Exchange sync built-in. On the hardware side, the picture below shows the QWERTY sliding keyboard,The display is a 3.7-inch touch-screen with a resolution of 480×854, 5MP camera with Flash; CPU will be the potent TI OMAP3430. The form factor reportedly could be slimmer than the iPhone 3GS.
The offensive against Apple iPhone has started with strong messages pointing out shortcomings from the iPhone platform. (no hardware keyboard; weak MP camera; close platform; non interchangeable battery; non multitasking and 3G spotty coverage). The latter one directed to AT&T, they “got a map” for that!
The device reportedly will have both flavors GSM and CDMA. The CDMA destined to Verizon Wireless network as earlier as this month end. And the GSM would go global later.

To rival Apple applications must be easy adopt among different Google Handset makers. That is the pitfall of WM devices- different resolutions and hardware configurations. I applaud Apple for sticking to one device and one resolution. Which is why there are now 75,000 software available for the device. Can the Android platform defeat that?
