image If Google Map doesn’t cut for you, there many solutions to choose if you really need a turn-by-turn GS navigation solution on your iPhone including AT&T ($10 monthly subscription); TomTom ($100) ; Navigon ($90); iGo ($79.99) and CoPilot ($34.99), etc.

Mapquest Navigator is a new solution that is more affordable to start than any of the above solution with subscription at $4/mo; $10/ 3mo and $30/yr. Mapquest offers 14 day trial for $1.  Granted, Mapquest is using your data network to download the map as you go versus offline solution such TomTom, therefore if you plan to use in a spotty coverage, Mapquest Navigator might not be the right solution for you.

At only $4/mo, Mapquest Navigator delivers a decent job that user would expect for a navigation device. Taking the non-multitasking consideration on the iPhone, it has a nice handy resume after receiving phone call feature. Do not forget to spend extra money for a car mount and a cigarette lighter charger to complete the navigation solution.

Feature highlights:

  • Voice Guided
Voice guided turn-by-turn navigation that speaks directions and street names.
  • Full Route Corridor
Full route corridor download offers quick route re-calculation for missed turns as well provides continued service in areas of no cellular coverage.
  • Traffic Incident Based Routing:
When your route is calculated, US routes are optimized to avoid traffic incidents that might delay your travel.
  • Regular Data Updates
Search 16+ million points of interest and utilize up-to-date street maps.
  • Traffic Overview
Easily check traffic congestion on the map of your city or on your route
  • Address Book Integration
