No Need to Wait for Windows to boot up before using your laptop: Phoenix’s Instant-On Notebooks and Netbooks
Phoenix Technologies, today announced a strategic agreement with Samsung to bring to market notebooks and netbooks that are instant on/off, more user-friendly, fun, automated and secure, with extended battery life.
Until recently, using your PC was definitely NOT an "instant- on" experience. Phoenix Technologies introduced HyperSpace – a product that provides instant-on access whenever you want to use your PC for the Web or for productivity applications like word processing, spreadsheet, etc.
Use your PC like your smartphone – instantly on and immediately available for use as soon as you pick it up! Yes, finally instant-on capability is now available for personal computers.
Now, you don’t have to wait for Windows to boot up before you can to start using your laptop. With HyperSpace, you just power on your computer and immediately start surfing the Internet, checking email, or watching an online video. When you want to turn off your laptop, you can just close the lid and go.
HyperSpace provides way more than "instant on" benefits. It extends the battery life of your PC – when you perform your web-based activities in HyperSpace while keeping Windows in "sleep" mode, your notebook battery will last up to 30% longer.
Another great benefit with HyperSpace is that you’re always connected wherever you go. HyperSpace enables your PC to jump onto the best available network, so this eliminates the need to re-configure your laptop when you change locales.
" All-day, instant-on and always-connected mobile computing is the very foundation of our PC 3.0 vision," said Woody Hobbs, President and CEO of Phoenix Technologies. "Consumers expect their notebook PCs and netbooks to perform with the speed, predictability and agility of smartphones and Phoenix is very pleased to be working with Samsung to offer this user experience to Samsung’s notebook and netbook product lines. We want consumers to fall in love with their PCs."
Samsung’s PC division executives said, "As the world’s fastest growing vendor in the ultra mobile computing market, Samsung is committed to bring to market innovative technology solutions that simplify consumers’ lives. Working with Phoenix, we plan to deliver next-generation mobile devices with innovative and intuitive on-the-go computing solutions that fit the emerging needs and desires of our mobile consumers."
"Samsung and Phoenix are jointly working to meet consumer needs for instant-on PCs and all-day mobile computing devices," said leading industry analyst and mobile PC futurist Tim Barjarin of Creative Strategies. "With HyperSpace, Phoenix is on track to change the way people actually use a PC. Consumers will now be able to use Samsung netbooks throughout the day and have smart connectivity options just like smartphones."
