Apple iPhone Hits Korea
Korea welcomes the iPhone this weekend. A month after the launch in China. The tech savvy and limitless bandwidth market surprisingly only has 1% smartphone penetration.
KT Corp, the second Korean largest mobile carrier hopes the iPhone will change the landscape.
"We’re hoping that this iPhone will be a trigger point for the smartphone market in Korea," said Yang Hyun-mi, chief strategy officer at KT Corp.
Samsung and LG Electronics are the 2 major local phone manufacturers, are largely selling feature phones in the home markets. Samsung is starting the price cut on its flagship 8GB Omnia 2 in anticipation to the iPhone arrival.

All eyes from Cupertino will be on Korean launch after a less-than-stellar start in China.
