Dell Android-Base Mini 3 Smartphone is for Real This Time
There are some news that never die, Dell smartphone is among them. Once again, Dell said Friday that it’s ready to enter the smartphone business with the Android-based Mini 3. This time is official, the Dell smarthone will only be carried by will China Mobile and Brazil’s Claro.
The Mini 3 uses OPhone, a customized version of Google Android OS. No technical specifications were unveiled until the launch is getting closer.
Michael Tatelman, a Dell sales and marketing executive, told the Associated Press that the phone has a 3.5-inch high-definition touch screen. The Mini 3 sold in China won’t have Wi-Fi at the start, but Tatelman said that would come later.
China Mobile has more than 500 million customers, and Claro serves more than 42 million people in Brazil as part of the America Movil network, Dell said.
Dell is in talk reportedly with Vodafone in Europe; AT&T and Verizon in the U.S.; M1 and Starhub in Singapore; and Maxis in Malaysia.
Engadget Mobile is also reporting that Motorola also enters in agreement with the Chinese carrier with the Android-based MT710 is said to feature an 854 x 480 display clocking in at 3.7 inches and 3G support. The device is running with the OPhone interface and without WiFi.
