Dell Returning to its Coolness: Provides Downloadable Chrome OS to Mini 10v Users
Google first unwrapped its Chrome OS to the press last week and released a preview code to the developer community. The official final release won’t be ready for end of next year, however many enthusiast sites already ported the code to a bootable form and made it public consumable.
The coolest thing is Dell seems to jump on this project quicker than any other OEM to offer an customized image of Chrome OS to its Mini 10v netbook users.
The downloadable image is available HERE. Upon completion, You need to dump the image to an at least 8GB USB stick. Linux users can the Linux command dd if=ChromiumOS_Mini10v_Nov25.img of=/dev/sdb (assuming your drive mounts as /dev/sdb/).
You are ready to embark on your Google Chrome OS journey!
Dell’s Doug Anson warns a minor problem to detect a WiFi access point with this image. The OS might take 5 to 10 minutes to detect one, but the OS boots very fast.
The Dell Mini 10v is available ($300) at Amazon.
