Sprint Announces 4G Speeds are a go!
Sprint has been touting the “Bringing you the first 4G network” tag line in it’s television ads for awhile now. Well it looks as if they can check that one off the list. Sprint announced that it’s WiMax service went live today in Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Atlanta, Portland, Las Vegas and a few other cities are to join the ranks very soon. Sprint was quick to give instruction on what one would need to achieve the 4G speeds. “To use Sprint 4G service, all you will need is a 4G plan and the Sprint 3G/4G USB Modem U300. Just plug in the device and start downloading mammoth attachments, uploading huge files and video-conferencing with no lag.”
Sources have been reporting that they are getting around 10Mbs on the new service which in some cases is faster than most peoples home connections. I guess the big question left unanswered is how much are we going to pay for said 4G plans? (that’s assuming anyone will switch to their mail-in-rebate phoneapalooza, move to one of the aforementioned cities, and buy a new WiMax compatible handset. It’s just that simple, right?)
