Microsoft Might Copy Google Nexus One Play
All Things Digital (WSJ) reports that in a note to clients today, Jefferies & Company analyst Katherine Egbert claims that Redmond is gearing up to launch its own Zune-like phone based on Windows Mobile 7. A device that has been long time rumored as the Pink project.
The juicy information reads:
“Our recent industry checks indicate Microsoft will be debuting its own phone sometime in the next two months,” Egbert writes. “We expect the new phone to debut soon, at either the Feb 15-18 Mobile World Congress conference in Barcelona Spain, or possibly at CTIA in Las Vegas one month later.”
Other earlier rumors indicate the new “Seven (Windows Mobile 7 implied) devices” produced by LG and HTC would have resemblance to Zune HD user interface and Microsoft won’t allow any UI alteration as seen in the previous OS versions. Since Zune HD is sold by exclusively Microsoft, could this be true that Microsoft will sell the next Zune-Phone?
