Windows 7 Slates Making First Appearance
During the opening CES keynote, Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO introduced briefly few prototypes of what he called Windows slates ( to differentiate with the previous pen-based tablets running a flavor of Windows).
The new slates will be powered simply by Windows 7 OS, which has the touch capable built-in. The touch capable Windows 7 has been seen in various PC maker models but this is the first time it is shown in slate form factor.

"They’re more powerful than a phone and almost as powerful as a PC. Perfect for reading, surfing the web and taking entertainment on the go, and they will be available later this year" mentioned Ballmer.
During the key note, Ballmer seemed to convey the messages to Amazon and Apple that we won’t need a different OS, devices,… Windows 7 can do it all…
