Is G-Recorder the Best IM Feature of 2010?
G-Recorder – the new and innovative Skype call recording plug-in for your Windows PC – has been nominated for Best IM Feature 2010 in the About.com 2010 Readers Choice Awards.
In the Readers Choice Awards there are eight sub categories just for everything related to Best IM, one of which is the Best IM feature of 2010. Currently there are five applications that have been shortlisted for nomination, these five applications are:

- Digsby Facebook Integration
- G-Recorder
- ICQ Feeds
- Yahoo! Messenger Video Calls
Of these five applications the one of interest is called G-Recorder. The G-Recorder application is an innovative Skype extra that has been designed specifically for the ability to record Skype conversations.
The G-Recorder has been nominated for the accolade of the Best IM feature of 2010, not just because of the applications design to record Skype calls but more because of the forward thinking functionality it carries.
G-Recorder
Unlike other Skype call recorders the G-Recorder does more than simply let you save your calls to a hard drive. When you have finished your Skype call and recording your Skype conversation G-Recorder allows you to then save the call directly to your Gmail account.
This feature to record Skype calls and save them to a Gmail account is then taken further as the application groups calls and IM chats into “Conversations” so you can easily locate your related IM chat and calls.
The “Conversations” feature has revolutionized the Skype call recording world by allowing users to really have control over the calls they make. The “Conversations” usability is further supported by having a one click retrieval function utilizing a cloud storage feature.
One of the other reasons that the G-Recorder application has gained notoriety is because of the back up function saving to Gmail offers. All calls saved to Gmail are done so in Mp3 format which means you can locate and play them on any computer. This means that you literally have a back up function in your Gmail account as no matter what may happen to your computer or laptop your calls are safe in the world of Google.
