Google could have inquired Twitter for its user base, but why not leveraging Gmail user base to build its own Social Networking, that’s exactly how Google did. Google today announced a new service, Google Buzz, a new feature that is included in Gmail.
Buzz brings instantly your contacts as people you follow in to a social networking update status stream.
You can immediately share text, links or media contents from Flickr, Picasa, YouTube, Twitter, etc.. Your “buzz” can be shared publicly or just among your select groups (friends, so-workers, etc..). "Recommended Buzz" puts friend-of-friend content into your stream
Buzz integrates with your Gmail inbox. You will receive an email if someone comments on your Buzz, a conversation that you are part of or someone mentioned your ID.
On the mobile side, Google adds http://buzz..google.com, which provides a mobile format with stream of buzz from you’re following. You can also display location-based nearby buzz posted by people around your location. You can update your stream with your geo-tag as well.
