Windows Phone 7 Series Chassis
With the launch of Microsoft Phone 7 Series, Microsoft is enforcing rules to preserve the stock UI and is tightening hardware platforms for all hardware manufacturers. Microsoft determines the hardware platforms as chassis as described by Microsoft Australia Developer Evangelist hosts Michael Kordahi and Andrew Coates in their latest Podcast “Frankly Speaking” .
- Chassis 1 is for PC makers developing “big touch screen” phones, the hosts said. These will be touch-only devices, with 1 GHz processor and a dedicated graphics processor.
- Chassis 2-compliant phones will support real sliding keyboards plus touch, the podcasters claimed. They said these would be more Palm-Treo-like.
- Chassis 3 phones could be candy bar phones.
