Apple Sues (Google/Android Via) HTC for Patent Infringement
Apple reinvented the mobile phone in 2007 with its revolutionary iPhone and indisputably has raised the bar of all smartphone platforms. As a result, the gap is getting narrower and competition is getting tougher.
Apple today flexes its muscles and files a lawsuit against Taiwanese HTC for infringing on 20 Apple patents related to the iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture and hardware. The lawsuit was filed concurrently with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and in U.S. District Court in Delaware.
"We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it," said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. "We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours."

Kudos to Apple, they finally decided to put their feet down. I knew there was a reason why all the newer SmartPhones had a similar look and feel. At the time I really couldn’t put a finger on it…but now it’s dawned on me… =) j/p I think when this is all said and done, and the dust have settled, Apple will have created a bigger and better device, and someone else will once again be playing catch up and trying to replicate Apple’s success.
Boo!! Apple doesn’t need more money to line their already stuffed pockets. If they get away with this case, someone should turn around and sue them for an attempted monopoly on the touchscreen market.
Google/HTC came along and designed something superior to Apple, and they just can’t handle it. Shame on you, Apple.
