AT&T Carries Palm Pre Plus & Palm Pixi Plus
Today, the ailing Palm broadens its distribution channel by announcing AT&T would soon sell the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus. AT&T users can place preorders the 2 WebOS smartphones. The Pre Plus would sell for $149.99 and the Pixi Plus for $49.99, with a two-year service contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.
After a series of misfortunes and bad timing, the once praised mobile OS still could not reverse the downward spiral financial crisis. Broaden the distribution channel is part of Palm recovery plan, but the window of opportunity for Palm may be closing facing to the ever-growing competitive landscape of Google Android, Apple iPhone, RIM and the upcoming Microsoft Windows 7 Series.
Note that the 2 Palm smartphones have been available on Sprint network, the Plus version (WiFi enables) just started on Verizon. The Plus pair that AT&T will carry will be the first GSM version. We expect to see Palm will go global after.
