At the Interactive conference SXSW in Austin, TX, Opera revealed its Web browser for iPhone is only weeks away from submitting to Apple’s App store. The company fist announced its intention back in Feb 2010 at Mobile World Congress.

The iPhone built-in Safari has been considered the best mobile browser to provide near desktop experience,  Opera promises to top it with up to six times faster. Opera’s process involves running Web pages through their servers, compressing data and stripping away all but the most essential data so the pages load quickly.

Opera mini browser, currently available on Symbian S60, Windows Mobile, Blackberry and Android.  More than 50 million monthly users worldwide use Opera browser on their Smartphone, according to the Norwegian company.

The question remains whether or not Apple approves such app, which directly competes with the built-in feature. In another hand, Apple might not want to run in to the Microsoft Internet Explorer debacle.

"I wouldn’t say we’re trying to back Apple into a corner," Opera spokesman Thomas Ford said. "We feel that we’re very much following their rules."
