New Nook 2 and WiFi Nook Lite To Be Released by B&N
Nook, the e-Reader from Barnes & Noble has been in the shadow of the recently released Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle, but soon the online bookstore reportedly will give a fresh update to the Nook line.
A tipster shared allegedly the Nook’s roadmap to Gizmodo:
First, the current device will be able to download over WiFi, the Nook V1.4 software update. The new software brings fix & enhances along with a welcome full Web browser, which allows users to check their email and other simplistic non graphic oriented browsing on (we assume) the monochrome e-Ink display.
Later on this year, the Nook 2 (codenamed “Project Encore” will hit B&N and Best Buy store shelves in addition to the WiFi-only Nook “Lite” will be available as well at lower cost ($199?). The current Nook costs $259 including lifetime 3G connectivity for convenient book downloading from everywhere (and soon browsing the Web). But if you can purchase books only at a WiFi hotspot or at home knowing a book might last a while , then cheaper WiFi only option makes sense.

As far as comparing to the Apple iPad, an avid book reader (sorry I forgot his name) rightfully shares his sentiment,
“One of the joys of reading is to be able to shut yourself away from distractions and lose yourself in a book. When the book itself is packed with distractions, the whole experience is compromised”
Mother’s day is coming up. Make your right choice!
