Skyfire Browser to Develop a version for iPhone
By now, we hope our readers and iPhone owners had a chance to try out Opera Mini for iPhone. We did give a swirl and we liked it for its rendering speed and tab browsing, but a bit disappointed about the same lack of video and flash support.
Since Apple has opened the floodgate for other major alternative browsers. Skyfire, the other mobile browser that has been released for Symbian and Windows Mobile platform for sometime. Similar to Opera Mini, Skyfire massages your requested Web pages on its servers before shipping to your device. The existing version supports Silverlight, Flash, Quicktime, YouTube, Hulu and full AJAX, etc..
Yesterday, in a blog post Skyfire developer expressed interest to develop a version of its browser for the iPhone iPad and the iPod Touch.
"Everyone at Skyfire was heartened by this decision by Apple, to open up their platform and believe this sets a solid precedent for additional innovation in mobile browsing from other companies. The Skyfire team has been watching the Opera submission and the iPhone/iPad market closely, and this will certainly accelerate our strategy on iDevices."
Below is a demo of the existing Skyfire browser:
