Facebook is Readying For Location-Based War

image As early as this month, Facebook is rumored to give users (perhaps in usual opt-out fashion) the ability to add location within status update. Facebook has the world’s largest mobile application, with more than 100 million users each day.

The move will certainly have major impact on smaller startups such Foursquare, Gowalla, etc.. which recently have drawn intense interest from advertisers as a means to drive offline sales.

The world largest social networking site reportedly is working with the fast food chain McDonald’s for a location aware app.  The app would allow users to check in at one of its restaurants and have a featured product appear in the post.
